Collect random urine specimen, preferably first morning.

  

Transfer urine to a Urine preservative vial/tube, urinalysis.

The BD Urinalysis Preservative Tube has a minimum fill of 7-10 mL; 10 mL is preferred

Urine processing instructions (BD)

  

Screw cap plastic container (non sterile)

If a BD UA transport tube in not available, or there is insufficient specimen, transport the entire specimen in the collection container, refrigerated, within 8 hours of collection.

 

  

BD Urinalysis preservative tube (preferred):

Ambient - 72 hours

Screw cap plastic container:

Refrigerated - 8 hours
