Urine - 10mL aliquot of 24 hour urine collection
Li hep plasma - 1.0 mL

  • How to collect a 24 hr urine sample
  • Li Heparin plasma sample must be drawn within ± 24 hours of the urine collection
    • Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10, times to prevent clotting
  

Urine:

  1. Record patient's height & weight and total urine volume on the request form.
  2. Mix the sample well
  3. Aliquot 10mL into a Urine aliquot transport vial/tube - 10mL (AHL)

  2. Transfer plasma to a False bottom plasma/serum transport vial/tube (AHL), labelled as the appropriate plasma type, within two (2) hours of sample collection
