  1. Allow the specimen to clot
  2. Spin
  3. Carefully pour the serum into a Metal free transfer vial/tube, labelled as serum, within two hours of specimen collection.
  
  
ETDA plasma, metal free
  
  

Immediatley following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10, times to prevent clotting

  
  1. Spin to separate the plasma from the cells
  2. Carefully pour the plasma into a Metal free transfer vial/tube, labelled as EDTA plasma, within two hours of specimen collection
  
  

Ambient (preferred) - 3 days

Refrigerated - OK

  • Use of non-metal-free collection or aliquot tubes
