Detect and measure HIV-1 in plasma with reflex to GenoSure PRIme® if viral load is greater than or equal to 500 copies/mL or reflex to GenoSure Archive® if viral load is less than 500 copies/mL. The GenoSure PRIme® and GenoSure Archive® assays detect mutations in the HIV viral genes that encode for HIV protease, reverse transcriptase and integrase. Mutations in these genes have been associated with resistance to antiretroviral drugs.

  • Collect three (3) separate Lavender EDTA, 4 mL tubes
  • Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10, times to prevent clotting

  1. Spin 2 Lavender EDTA, 4 mL tubes within six (6) hours of collection
  2. Transfer a minimum of 3.5 mL of plasma into Screw-cap polypropylene frozen transport vial/tube - 4mL (LabCorp) labelled as plasma
  3. Freeze

AND

EDTA whole blood

  1. Do not centrifuge the 3rd Lavender EDTA, 4 mL tube
  2. Freeze whole blood tube immediately
