  • This assay does not identify patients with a rare form of MLD due to cerebroside sulfate activator protein deficiency.
  • Unaffected pseudodeficiency homozygotes and compound heterozygotes cannot be distinguished from affected individuals by this assay.
  • ASA activity may not reflect carrier status.
