Falcon vial/tube - 15mL (small volume samples)

 

Screw cap plastic container (sterile)(s) or other sterile plastic screw cap container (larger volume specimens). Use multiple containers to submit up to 240mL

 

Allina Hospital sites:

Large volume fluid collections should be submitted in upto 4 - 60mL capped syringes.   Smaller Volumes can still be submitted in the Falcon vial/tube - 15mL or smaller syringe as appropriate

  
  • Non-Gyn Cytology request
  • Indicate pertinent clinical history/previous malignancy
  

Metro Hospitals: Ambient - Deliver immediately or refrigerate

Non-Metro hospitals, Allian Health Clinics and outreach clients: Refrigerate

  
  • Unlabeled or mislabeled specimen
  • Unlabeled slide in a labeled slide container
  • Leaking specimen if label has been rendered unreadable
  • Slide broken beyond repair
