  • Collect random urine
  • First morning specimen is preferable
  
  1. Transfer well mixed urine to a Urine preservative vial/tube, urinalysis.
    1. The BD Urinalysis Preservative Tube has a minimum fill of 7-10 mL; 10 mL is preferred.
  2. If BD UA transport tube in not available, or there is insufficient specimen, transport in a screw cap container, refrigerated, within 8 hours of collection.

Refrigerated - 8 hours

Refrigerated specimens in screw cap container received >8 hrs but <24 hrs from collection will be resulted with a comment: “Specimen exceeds standard time for testing”
