  • Diagnosis of chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), X-linked and autosomal recessive forms, complete myeloperoxidase (MPO) deficiency; monitoring chimerism and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase function posthematopoietic cell transplantation
  • Assessing residual NADPH oxidase activity pretransplant

Allina facility special instructions:

  1. Due to special requirements for collection, this test requires pathologist pre-approval by calling Client Services at (612) 863-4678
  2. If approved, collection must be scheduled in advance and is only performed at the Abbott-Northwestern, Mercy and United Hospital sites.
  3. This test is performed by Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL). If it is more convenient for them, patients may go to a Mayo facility for specimen collection.

 

  • Both a patient and control specimen from an unrelated, healthy donor are required.
    • Control specimen should be collected from an Allina Health employee.
  • Collect specimens Mo - Th only. No weekends or holidays.

Collection instructions:

  1. Draw a control specimen from a normal (healthy), unrelated person within an hour of the patient.
  2. Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 5 - 10 times, to prevent clotting
  3. Label clearly on outermost label normal control.
  

It is recommended that specimens arrive within 24 hours of specimen collection.
