Anti-human dendritic reticulum cell

All IHC stains will include a positive control tissue

  • CD35 is useful in identifying the follicular dendritic cells in non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, seen as a sharply defined area of nodular staining
  • This antibody can also show a loose, ill-defined area of staining in some diffuse lymphomas
  • Precursor B NHL such as lymphoblastic lymphomas, and Burkitt lymphomas, plasmocytomas, and hairy cell leukemias show no staining for CD35
  • Nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin's disease will show CD35 staining in a follicular pattern; all other types of HD are negative
  • CD 35 is most useful in a panel with CD21 and CD23 to identify follicular dendritic cell sarcoma/tumor

Tissue

Submit a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block

FFPE tissue section mounted on a charged, unstained slide

Ambient (preferred)

  • Unlabeled/mislabeled block
  • Insufficient tissue
  • Slides broken beyond repair

AHL - Immunohistochemistry

Mo - Fr

1 - 2 days

Immunohistochemical staining and microscopic examination

If requested, an interpretive report will be provided

Specifications

  • CD35 antibody reacts with a receptor of the C3b fragment of compliment (To5)
  • CD35 labels follicular dendritic cells in lymphoid follicles, and to a lesser degree, mantle zone lymphocytes
  • CD35 stains the C3b receptor on epithelial cells of renal glomeruli
  • CD35 will also stain macrophages and histiocytes

Staining pattern

  • Membrane -based staining
