All IHC stains will include a positive control tissue

  • CD8 is used to identify cytotoxic/suppressor T cells
  • This antibody is used in a panel with other T cell markers, to assess antigen expression relationships of benign and malignant T cell populations; unexpected expression and or loss of CD8 can occur in neoplasms
  • CD4 is often used with CD8 to evaluate helper/suppressor relationships of T lymphocytes

Tissue

Submit a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block

FFPE tissue section mounted on a charged, unstained slide

Ambient (preferred)

  • Unlabeled/mislabeled block
  • Insufficient tissue
  • Slides broken beyond repair

AHL - Immunohistochemistry

Mo - Fr

1 - 2 days

Immunohistochemical staining and microscopic examination

If requested, an interpretive report will be provided

Specifications

  • CD8 antibody reacts with the CD8 protein associated with the suppressor-cytotoxic subset of T lymphocytes
  • CD8 is expressed with CD4 in thymocytes and in a very small number of circulating lymphocytes

Staining pattern

  • Cell surface membrane staining
