Pleural:

Transudative pleural fluid glucose concentrations similar to serum glucose, while exudates have glucose concentration less than serum glucose.

Glucose < 60 mg/dL typically associated with low fluid pH.

Pericardial:

Pericardial fluid glucose to serum glucose ratio < 1.0 may be useful in differentiating exudate from transudate and infective from parainfective effusions.
