Clinical and Interpretive info
Order individual tests as indicated:
First line test is Vitamin B12.
If B12 results are >400pg/mL, no further testing is indicated.
If B12 results are 180-400pg/mL, the recommended follow up test is Methylmalonic acid.
If the MMA result is elevated, the recommended follow up test is Intrinsic Factor Antibodies
If B12 results are below the reference range (<180pg/mL), the recommended follow up test is Intrinsic Factor Antibodies.
