- Identification, susceptibilities and serogrouping will be performed on all microbiology isolates considered by the laboratory to be significant.
Detection of bacteria commonly associated with urethritis.
Will not detect Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, or Ureaplasma.

- For prostatic secretions and other male genital specimens (penis, scrotum etc) order Aerobic bacterial culture, stain (12423/LAB12423)
- For optimal detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, order Neisseria gonorrhoeae amplified RNA and collect using an Aptima kit.
