- Expel aspirated cyst contents into a Falcon vial/tube - 15mL
- Label with two unique patient identifiers (name and DOB)
- If fungus/pneumocystis stain is requested answer the "rule out" order question with "Malignancy" and "Fungal Infection".
- Non-GYN Cytology request
- Specify source and site
- Provide pertinent clinical history/previous malignancy
Refrigerated
- Unlabeled or mislabeled specimen
- Unlabeled slide in a labeled slide container
- Leaking specimen if label has been rendered unreadable
- Slide broken beyond repair
