• Antibody identification and appropriate red cell antigen typing(s) by either serology or molecular testing will be performed as required if Antibody Screen is positive
• Each serum technique/panel needed will be charged separately. Other special testing may be required for significant antibody identification and will be performed at additional charge
• Two red cell components may be cross matched for inpatients type and screen who have a positive antibody screen and subsequent antibody
• Antibody titer will be completed for appropriate prenatal patients

Rh Immune Globulin may cause a positive antibody screen and subsequent antibody identification if patient receives a dose prior to test draw.

Lavender (EDTA), 4mL

Sample should be obtained no more than 3 days (up to 96 hours) prior to testing.

In certain circumstances, additional blood may be requested to complete testing. If the patient has a known antibody, collect and submit 2-3 4mL EDTA whole blood tubes for testing.

Lavender:

Immediatley following collection, mix sample by inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting.

Tube must be labeled with the patients first and last name and Excellian MRN, date and time of collection and phlebotomist’s A#

Non-Excellian sites:
Tube must be labeled with the patient's first and last name and date of birth, date and time of collection and phlebotomist’s initials.
