This order is for Allina Health providers only

Red serum vial/tube, 10 mL

AND

Lavender (EDTA), 4mL x2

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8-10 times to prevent clotting

Do not process in Specimen Managment.

To be performed by CEN Send Outs

Red serum vial/tube

1. Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
2. Spin 
3. Transfer serum to a False bottom plasma/serum transport vial/tube (AHL), labelled as serum
4. Freeze and Save in Send Outs

Lavender EDTA vial/tube

1. Spin 
2. Transfer plasma to a False bottom plasma/serum transport vial/tube (AHL), labelled as plasma
3. Freeze and Save in Send Outs

OFF HOURS:  Place red top and EDTA  tubes in the Send Outs refrigerator bucket for day shift to process.
