Karius test
- Rapid and minimally invasive detection of deep-seated and difficult-to-diagnose systemic infections throughout
the body. - Provide antimicrobial resistance detection for microbes known to utilize the antimicrobial resistance
mechanism.
This is a time sensitive test sent to a third party lab. Other facilities who wish to order a test should work directly with Karius.
Specimen
EDTA plasma
2.0 mL
0.7 mL
Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting.
- Spin within within 24 hours of draw at 1600 x g for 10 minutes
- Transfer plasma to a Screw cap transfer vial/tube (Mayo T914)
- Freeze
Note: Do not pool blood draws
Frozen (preferred) - 6 months
Ambient - 4 days
- Plasma not separated from whole blood within 24 hours
- Unfrozen sample received more than 4 days after draw
- Specimen with incomplete or improper separations of plasma
