  • Rapid and minimally invasive detection of deep-seated and difficult-to-diagnose systemic infections throughout
    the body.
  • Provide antimicrobial resistance detection for microbes known to utilize the antimicrobial resistance
    mechanism.
  

This is a time sensitive test sent to a third party lab.  Other facilities who wish to order a test should work directly with Karius.

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting.

  
  1. Spin within within 24 hours of draw at 1600 x g for 10 minutes
  2. Transfer plasma to a Screw cap transfer vial/tube (Mayo T914) 
  3. Freeze

Note: Do not pool blood draws

  
  

Frozen (preferred) - 6 months

Ambient - 4 days

  
  • Plasma not separated from whole blood within 24 hours
  • Unfrozen sample received more than 4 days after draw
  • Specimen with incomplete or improper separations of plasma
