Any combination of the cord ABO, Rh and/or DAT testing can be perfomed off of one (1) 4mL EDTA tube
Avoid contamination with Wharton's jelly
Labelling instructions:
Tube must be labeled as "cord blood".
Excellian sites:
Tube must be labeled with the patients first and last name and Excellian MRN, date and time of collection and phlebotomist’s A#
Non-Excellian sites:
Tube must be labeled with the patient's first and last name and date of birth, date and time of collection and phlebotomist’s initials.

Refrigerated - 3 days
Sample should be obtained no more than 24 hours prior to testing but may be used up to 3 days post collection. Testing of older specimens may show decreased antibody reactivity.
Column-agglutination, agglutination
The ABO and Rh typing indicates the presence of 2 of the various blood group systems. The identification of antigens in the ABO and Rh system has r application in the determination of the mother's candidacy for Rh immune globulin therapy.
