Phosphatidylserine/Prothrombin Antibody, (IgG and IgM)
PS/PT Antibody (IgG and IgM)
This test can be used as an aid in the diagnosis of certain autoimmune thrombotic disorders, such as antiphospholipid syndrome (aPS). Antibodies to PS/PT correlate with the presence of lupus anticoagulants (LA), and this test may be useful in cases with difficult LA test interpretation. This assay also may assist in the determination of risk for thrombosis as well as obstetric complications in patients with antiphospholipid antibodies.
Specimen
Immediately following collection, thoroughly mix sample by gently inverting 5 times
- Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
- Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
Gold serum separator (SST) tube
- Allow sample to clot
- Spin
- Transfer serum to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as serum, within two (2) hours of sample collection
Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp)
Ambient (preferred) - 14 days
Refrigerated - 14 days
Frozen - 14 days
Freeze/thaw cycles - stable x3
