The MVista® histoplasma quantitative antigen test aids the diagnosis of histoplasmosis. Monitoring the histoplasmosis helps determine when treatment can be stopped and to diagnose relapse
Specimen
Urine

Transfer a 10 mL urine aliquot to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as urine
Serum
5 mL (minimum 2.0 mL)
Immediately following collection, thoroughly mix sample by gently inverting 5 times
Gold:
- Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
- Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
Red:
- Allow sample to clot
- Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
- Transfer serum to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as serum
Gold serum separator (SST) tube
Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp)
Ambient (preferred) - 2 weeks
Refrigerated - 2 weeks
Frozen - Indefinitely
- Specimen too viscous to pipette
- Tissue, sputum, bronchial brushings, BAK, CSF, stool, FNA, biopsy, tracheal or bone marrow aspirate
- Stored in transport media, fixative or isolator tubes
