The use of gel-barrier tubes is not recommended due to slow absorption of the drug by the gel.

Depending on the specimen volume and storage time, the decrease in drug level due to absorption may be clinically significant.

Dk green heparin (Li or Na), no gel

 

Lavender (EDTA), 4mL

  

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gentle inverting 8 - 10 times, to prevent clotting

The drug is used in the treatment of general anxiety disorder, the management of ethanol withdrawal, and as an adjunct anticonvulsant drug.
  • Half-life of elimination: 40 to 50 hours.
  • Time to peak serum: approximately one hour.
