Test code 5703 (order on father sample): Paternal Initial Screening.
Test code 5303 (mother): Maternal Only Initial Screening. No paternal sample available.

Platelet antigen genotyping on parents, platelet antibody identification panel on mother and maternal serum crossmatched with paternal platelets.

Specimen

  
ACD-A whole blood, and serum from mother, and ACD-A whole blood from father
  

Mother:

Yellow ACD-A x 3 and Red serum vial/tube - 10 mL x 3

 

 

Father:

Yellow ACD-A x3

  
30 mL ACD-A whole blood, and 10 mL serum from mother; 30 mL ACD-A whole blood from father
  
  • Collect ACD-A whole and serum tube from the mother and ACD-A whole blood from the father

  • Immediately following collection, mix the yellow ACD tube by inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting

 

  

Red:

  1. Allow sample to clt
  2. Spin and
  3. Transfer serum to an AHL False Bottom Plasma/Serum Transport Tube, labelled as serum, within two (2) hours of sample collection

 

ACD-A yellow:

Submit whole blood specimen. Do NOT spin.

Refrigerated - 4 days

Serum:
Refrigerated - 4 days
