If RhD is negative, may reflex to Weak D test

Detection of the D (RH1) antigen on red blood cells. May be used in the determination of the mother's candidacy for Rh immune globulin therapy.

Lavender (EDTA), 4mL

• Avoid contamination with Wharton's jelly
• Immediately after collection, mix tube thoroughly by gentle inversion, 8 - 10 times, to prevent clotting
• Any combination of the cord ABO, Rh and/or DAT testing can be perfomed off of one 4mL EDTA tube
  

  Labelling instructions:
  Must be identified as Cord blood

  Newborn born at Allina Health must include the following ID information on the specimen tube:

  1. Mother's LAST name followed by BB (for boy) or BG (for Girl) and Mother's first name.
  2. For Multiples births, after the BB or BG, provide an additional identifier in order of birth: A, B, C, etc.
  3. The collection date and time, and A# of the collector must be on the tube.
   
  For Reference Lab cord blood samples:
  1. Label with Baby's first and last name, MRN or date of birth, and identify as cord blood.
  2. The collection date and time and collector's initials must be on the tube.
