LAB994

MSO

Specimen

EDTA plasma

1.0 mL

Immediatley following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gentle inverting 8 - 10 times, to prevent clotting

The high sensitivity of amplification by PCR requires the specimen to be processed in an environment in which contamination of the specimen by Ureaplasma DNA is not likely.

  1. Spin
  2. Transfer plasma to a Sterile screw cap vial/tube - 15mL (LabCorp), labelled as EDTA plasma, within 24 hours of specimen collection

Refrigerated (preferred) - 7 days

Frozen - 7 days

  • PCR testing cannot be added on to a sample that has been opened and/or used for other testing. If the sample has already been used for testing, a new specimen will need to be collected.
