Monitoring of HIV infected patients for risk of disease progression and emergence of resistant populations

Lavender (EDTA), 4mL x 2

• Collect 2 separate Lavender (EDTA), 4mL tubes to ensure that 2 mL of plasma is available for testing (1 tube will not usually yield this amount of plasma).
• Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10, times to prevent clotting

1. Spin for 20 minutes
2. Transfer a minimum of 1.0 mL of plasma into each of 2 transfer tubes, labelled as EDTA plasma, within 6 hours of specimen collection and
3. Freeze immediately
   1. Plasma should be frozen immediately, but will be accepted if frozen within 24 hours of collection.

2 Frozen - 1.0 mL aliquots in Transfer vial/tube for small volume specimens (Sarstedt) (preferred) or AHL False Bottom Plasma/Serum Transport Tubes
