  • Collect specimen in clean leakproof container.
  • Instruct the patient not to void with the specimen and also not to put toilet tissue in the "hat" or "bedpan."
  
  1. Transfer specimen to a Stool transport media/vial - Culture and sensitivity (C&S) within 48 hours of collection.
  2. Use spoon in vial and fill to the "fill line" - Do not overfill
  3. Mix well
  4. Refrigerate
