Useful for:

Detect and measure HIV-1 in plasma with reflex to GenoSure PRIme® if viral load is greater than or equal to 500 copies/mL or reflex to GenoSure Archive® if viral load is less than 500 copies/mL. The GenoSure PRIme® and GenoSure Archive® assays detect mutations in the HIV viral genes that encode for HIV protease, reverse transcriptase and integrase. Mutations in these genes have been associated with resistance to antiretroviral drugs.

Collection instructions:

Collect three (3) separate Lavender EDTA, 4 mL tubes
Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10, times to prevent clotting

Spin 2 Lavender EDTA, 4 mL tubes within six (6) hours of collection
Transfer a minimum of 3.5 mL of plasma into Screw-cap polypropylene frozen transport vial/tube - 4mL (LabCorp) labelled as plasma
Freeze

Do not centrifuge the 3rd Lavender EDTA, 4 mL tube
Freeze whole blood tube immediately
