HER2 Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization (FISH)
HER2 is a gene that can become amplified in several types of cancers, including breast, gastric, esophageal and lung to name a few.
A normal result would show cells with only 2 copies of both HER2 and centromere 17, a HER2 copy: centromere 17 copy ratio of <2.0.
An abnormal amplified HER2 (red signal) to centromere 17 (green signal) ratio test result.
