The early stages of infection before eggs are produced (egg production typically begins at least 3 to 4 months after exposure)
Chronic infection when egg production is sporadic or low
Substances known to interfere with immunoassays include: bilirubin, lipids and hemoglobin
The parasite specific antibody must be indicated in the order and on the MDH requisition form.

Fascioliasis is infection with the liver fluke Fasciola hepatica, which is acquired by eating contaminated watercress or other water plants.
Clinical manifestations include abdominal pain and hepatomegaly. Diagnosis is by serology or detection of eggs in stool, duodenal aspirates, or bile specimens.
