Any TSH value of <0.35 or >4.94 µIU/mL will automatically reflex to a Free T4 at an additional charge

  

This reflex test was established on the recommendation of the Clinical Practice Council to be the preferred first lab test ordered in the screening for thyroid disease.

Any TSH value of <0.35 or >4.94 µIU/mL will automatically reflex to a Free T4.  Providers also have the ability to order each of these tests (TSH and FT4) individually.

  1. Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
  2. Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection

  3. Transfer serum to a False bottom plasma/serum transport vial/tube (AHL), labelled as serum, within two (2) hours of sample collection
