  • All IHC stains will include a positive control tissue

  • This antibody is typically used in conjunction with Pax 5
  • Oct-2 is used to confirm B-cell lineage in CD20 negative B-cell lymphomas (Pax-5 positive and Oct-2 positive)
  • This antibody can be used to confirm plasma cell lineage, including myeloma and plasmablastic lymphomas (Pax-5 negative but Oct-2 positive)
  • Oct-2 can also be useful in phenotyping Hodgkin lymphoma (Pax-5 positive but Oct-2 negative)
  • Expression of this antibody has also been reported in AML (30% in one study, in cases with myelomonocytic differentiation)

Tissue

Submit a formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block

Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue block

FFPE tissue section mounted on a charged, unstained slide

Ambient (preferred)

  • Unlabeled/mislabeled block
  • Insufficient tissue
  • Slides broken beyond repair

Immunohistochemical staining and microscopic examination

If requested, an interpretive report will be provided

Specifications

  • Oct-2 is a B-cell lymphocyte-specific transcription co-activator (associated with BOB.1), which has a role in germinal center formation and immunoglobulin productions (i.e. involved in the earliest stage of B-cell development)
  • Oct-2 stains immunoglobulin secreting cells (B-cells and plasma cells)
  • This antibody also recognizes neuronal cells

Staining pattern

  • Nuclear staining
