- Gram stain
- Culture
- Identification, susceptibilities and serogrouping will be performed on all microbiology isolates considered by the laboratory to be significant
Detection of bacteria that may be implicated in delayed wound healing, acute or chronic infection, and/or tissue necrosis.
Tissue
- Submit entire specimen
- For Tissue culture and/or Anaerobic culture, the tissue may be placed in the transport liquid of an ESwab with Amies and re-capped.
- The swab is not needed.
- If using a sterile container, add a small amount of sterile, non-bacteriostatic saline to prevent desiccation
