May be used to determine past exposure to S. typhii (eg, infection or vaccination) and S. paratyphi.
This test cannot be used to confirm acute salmonellosis. If systemic symptoms of acute salmonellosis are present, the preferred tests are Stool Culture and E. coli Shiga-like Toxin by EIA and Blood Culture if typhoid fever is suspected.
