The PhenoSense Integrase® assay is a phenotypic resistance test used to determine the susceptibility of a patient's HIV to integrase inhibitors. Integrase inhibitors block HIV replication by preventing the virus from integrating into the host cell's DNA. Raltegravir (Isentress®) is the first approved drug in this class of HIV antiretroviral drugs.

EDTA plasma

3.0 mL

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10, times to prevent clotting

  1. Spin
  2. Transfer serum to aTransfer vial/tube for small volume specimens (Sarstedt), labelled as EDTA plasma
  3. Freeze immediately

Do not send specimens until they are completely frozen, as nucleic acid degradation occurs rapidly at ambient and higher temperatures.

Specimen integrity is compromised with freeze/thaw cycles.
