This procedure is used for the demonstration of Myelin in tissue sections. When an axon degenerates, the myelin covering breaks down into simpler lipids that will eventually be removed.
Formalin vial/container
Prepare a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block
FFPE tissue block
Prepare two (2) 10 micron thick section unstained on positively charged slides from an FFPE tissue block
Slides in a Slide holder - 5 specimen

Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat
Histochemical staining and microscopic evaluation
An interpretive pathology report will be provided for Technical with Interpretation cases.
