Fungitell-D-glucan assay
The Fungitell ß-D Glucan assay is indicated for presumptive diagnosis of fungal infection. It should be used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures.
The Fungitell ß-D Glucan assay detects (1,3)- ß-D-glucan from the following pathogens: Candida spp., Acremonium, Aspergillus spp., Coccidioides immitis, Fusarium spp., Histoplasma capsulatum, Trichosporon spp., Sporothrix schenckii, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Pneumocystis jiroveci.
The use of pour-off tubes is not recommended due to the potential for environmental contamination of the sample that can lead to false positive results.
Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gentle inversion, 5 times.
- Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere to prevent environmental contamination of the sample
- Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
- Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
- Do not transfer the serum to an aliquot tube
- Refrigerate

Collect specimen in clean, leak proof container
Send specimen in original tube. Do not aliquot.
Refrigerated (preferred) - 7 days
Ambient - 4 days
Frozen - 30 days
- Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic or icteric samples
- Red top tubes
- BAL submitted in universal transport media
