All IHC stains will include a positive control tissue

  • D2-40 is useful in identifying lymphatic invasion by tumor
  • D2-40 will not stain arteries, veins, or capillaries, or the corresponding benign neoplasms
  • Expression for D2-40 has been seen in Kaposi's sarcoma and in some angiosarcomas, possibly indicating a dual anio/lymphatic differentiation by these malignant tumors
  • This marker is also useful in identifying benign and malignant mesothelial cells
  • D2-40 is also a very sensitive marker for seminomas, but will stain a subset of embryonal carcinomas

Tissue

Submit a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block

FFPE tissue section mounted on a charged, unstained slide

Ambient (preferred)

  • Unlabeled/mislabeled block
  • Insufficient tissue
  • Slides broken beyond repair

AHL - Immunohistochemistry

Mo - Fr

1 - 2 days

Immunohistochemical staining and microscopic examination

If requested, an interpretive report will be provided

Specifications

  • D2-40 is a 40 kD sialo-glycoprotein present in many tissues, including fetal testes and testicular germ cell tumors
  • D2-40 is also localized in lymphatic-type endothelium, and is absent in vascular endothelium

 Staining patterns

  • Cytoplasmic and membranous
