A combined total of urine nicotine and cotinine (nicotine metabolite) concentrations > 200 ng/mL indicates active use of a nicotine-containing product (tobacco or smoking cessation product).
Urine concentrations < 200 ng/mL could be consistent with passive exposure to tobacco smoke.
