Provides a non-invasive way to rapidly detect over 1000 pathogens causing both deep-seated and bloodstream infections from a single blood sample.

  

This is a time sensitive test sent to a third party lab.  Other facilities who wish to order a test should work directly with Karius.

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting.

  
  1. Centrifuge sample within 24 hours of draw at 1600 x g for 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer plasma to a Screw cap transfer vial/tube (Mayo T914) within 6 hours of collection
  3. Freeze sample
  
  

Frozen (preferred) - 6 months

Ambient - 4 days

  
  • Plasma not separated from whole blood within 24 hours
  • Unfrozen sample received more than 4 days after draw
  • Specimen with incomplete or improper separations of plasma

Varies per organism:  * Reference Interval = the 97.5th percentile MPM concentration detected in PPT plasma from a cohort of 684 asymptomatic donors

MPM (* Molecules Per Microliter = number of DNA fragments present in one microliter of plasma)
