Useful for:

Rapid and minimally invasive detection of deep-seated and difficult-to-diagnose systemic infections throughout
the body.
Provide antimicrobial resistance detection for microbes known to utilize the antimicrobial resistance
mechanism.

Limitations:

This is a time sensitive test sent to a third party lab. Other facilities who wish to order a test should work directly with Karius.

Collection instructions:

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting.

Processing instructions:

Spin within within 24 hours of draw at 1600 x g for 10 minutes
Transfer plasma to a Screw cap transfer vial/tube (Mayo T914)
Freeze

Note: Do not pool blood draws

Plasma not separated from whole blood within 24 hours
