Therapeutic drug management
Trough levels are most reproducible.
Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gentle inversion, 5 times
1. Allow sample to clot
2. Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
3. Transfer serum to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as serum
Dk green heparin (Li or Na), no gel
Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 8 - 10 times, to prevent clotting
1. Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
2. Transfer serum to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as plasma
Ambient - 3 days
Refrigerated - >3 days
Frozen - >3 days

High-pressure liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC/UV)
Expected concentration range in patients on anticonvulsant doses of acetazolamide: 6.0−15.0 µg/mL.
