The MVista® blastomyces quantitative antigen test aids in the diagnosis of blastomycosis.  Monitoring of Blastomyces antigen levels also helps determine relapse of disease.

Transfer 1.0 mL of urine to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as urine

  
  
Serum
EDTA plasma
Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), CSF, or other sterile body fluid
  
  
Serum/plasma - 1.5 mL (minimum 1.2 mL)
BAL and other body fluids - 0.5 mL (minimum 0.5 mL)
CSF - 1.0 mL (minimum 0.8 mL)
  

Immediately following collection, thoroughly mix sample by gently inverting 5 times

  

Gold:

  1. Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
  2. Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection

Red:

  1. Allow sample to clot
  2. Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
  3. Transfer serum to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as serum

EDTA plasma:

  1. Spin within two (2) hours of sample collection
  2. Transfer plasma to a Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp), labelled as EDTA plasma
  

Gold serum separator (SST) tube

Transfer vial/tube with cap - 12mL (LabCorp)

Sterile container

  

Ambient (preferred) - 2 weeks

Refrigerated - 2 weeks

Frozen - Indefinitely

  
  • Specimen too viscous to pipette
  • Tissue, sputum, bronchial brushings, stool, FNA, biopsy, tracheal or bone marrow aspirate stored in transport media, fixative
