Detect use of abused and prescribed drugs
For order by Allina Health facilities and Allina Health contracted clients only
Immediatley following collection, mix sample by inverting 8 - 10 times to prevent clotting
Submit original collection tube
Grey Sodium flouride (NaFl)
Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gently inverting 5 - 10 times, to prevent clotting
Lavender (EDTA), 4mL
Dk green heparin (Li or Na), no gel
Refrigerated (preferred) - 3 days
For storage beyond three days, specimens should be frozen
Initial presumptive testing by immunoassay at the following testing thresholds:
- amphetamines, 50 ng/mL
- barbiturates, 0.1 µg/mL
- benzodiazepines, 20 ng/mL
- buprenorphine, 1.0 ng/mL
- cocaine metabolite, 25 ng/mL
- methadone, 25 ng/mL
- opiates, 5 ng/mL
- oxycodones, 5 ng/mL
- phencyclidine, 8 ng/mL
- propoxyphene, 50 ng/mL
- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), 5 ng/mL
Presumptive positives confirmed to limit of quantitation by definitive chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS or LC/MS-MS)
