Gold serum separator (SST) tube

• If requesting a Genotype at same time, an additional SST tube should be drawn
• Immediately following collection, thoroughly mix sample by gently inverting 5 times

1. Allow sample to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes
2. Spin for 20 minutes
3. Transfer a minimum of 1.2mL serum each into two separate Transfer vial/tube for small volume specimens, labelled as serum
4.  Freeze within 4 hours of collection
   1. Serum should be frozen immediately, but will be accepted if stored at 2 - 8°C and frozen within 24 hours of collection.

If a Hepatitis C antibody with reflex (527/86803.2) is ordered, it is not necessary to order this assay, as any low positive result for the Hepatitis C antibody will automatically reflex to an HCV RNA (2242) at an additional charge.
