Identification, susceptibilities and serogrouping will be performed on all microbiology isolates considered by the laboratory to be significant.

  

Detection of local catheter site infection.

  1. Aseptically snip off approximately a 2 inch segment beginning several millimeters below the former skin-catheter interface at the distal (tapered) end
  2. Deposit in the sterile container

For best results, transport at room temperature within 2 hrs of collection to prevent desiccation of organisms.
