To help with the investigation of autoimmune hemolytic anemia when the DAT is negative.

Before ordering, consult with Blood Bank Pathologist.

  

Ideally the patient should not have been transfused in the last 3 months, but if they have been, a limitation note will be added to the results

Immediatley following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gentle inverting 8 - 10 times, to prevent clotting

 

Labelling instructions:

Excellian sites:

Tube must be labeled with the patients first and last name and Excellian MRN, date and time of collection and phlebotomist's A#

Non-Excellian sites:

Tube must be labeled with the patient's first and last name and date of birth, date and time of collection and phlebotomist's initials.

Serological

  

DAT is assessed using standard tube technique with anti-IgG, -C3, -IgM, and -IgA reagents. Smail amounts of bound immunoglobulin can be detected using Polybrene. Cold LISS wash technique is used to detect low affinity IgG.
