All IHC stains will include a positive control tissue

  
  • This antibody is useful in identifying hyperplastic breast epithelium (CK5/6 positive)
  • Neoplastic breast proliferations (ADH, DCIS) are typically CK5/6 negative
  • CK5/6 also is a marker of breast myoepithelial cells
  • This antibody will also stain squamous epithelium of normal skin
  • CK5/6 is useful in separating mesotheliomas from pulmonary adenocarcinomas; it will stain mesothelial cells and mesotheliomas, but it is typically negative in adenocarcinomas
