Identifying patients with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and other hematologic disorders who may be responsive to imatinib mesylate.

The Platelet-derived growth factor receptor-beta (PDGFRB) produces a tyrosine kinase involved in cell proliferation. A 5;12 translocation results in a fusion product with ETV6. Patients with this translocation often have associated hypereosinophilia.

Collect bone marrow aspirate in a sterile Sodium heparin (Na hep) syringe and transfer to a sterile vial/tube
