Aids in the diagnosis of Whipple disease, especially for identifying inconclusive or suspicious cases

EDTA whole blood

Immediately following collection, mix sample thoroughly by gentle inverting 8 - 10 times, to prevent clotting


Do not spin


Lavender (EDTA), 4mL


Transfer 1.0 mL EDTA whole blood to a Sterile screw cap vial/tube - 15mL (LabCorp)


Refrigerated (preferred) - 7 days

Ambient - 7 days

Frozen - 7 days

  • PCR testing cannot be added on to a sample that has been opened and/or used for other testing. If the sample has already been used for testing, a new specimen will need to be collected.
