  • All IHC stains will include a positive control tissue

  • Arginase-1 reactivity is seen in the vast majority of well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC), but may be absent in poorly differentiated HCCs
  • This antibody is more sensitive than HepPar-1 in identifying HCC2
  • This antibody is very useful with Glypican 3 in identifying scirrhous HCC (more useful than HepPar-1)
  • One study showed rare non-hepatic tumors with Arginase reactivity (cholangiocarcinoma and prostatic adenocarcinoma)2

Specifications

  • Arginase-1 is a urea cycle metalloenzyme that is expressed in liver
  • This antibody is a sensitive and specific marker that can be used to confirm hepatocellular differentiation and exclude other possible primaries

 Staining patterns

  • Strong diffuse cytoplasmic staining; patchy nuclear staining can also be seen
